Dr. Timothy Carter, Associate Professor of Marketing and Management, brings years of experience in both business and education to Tusculum University. His business experience includes stints as director of safety, operations manager, and director of recruiting for a major trucking company. He has also been a successful small business owner and entrepreneur for more than a decade. His teaching experience began at Tusculum College in 1999, and has extended to teaching a variety of courses for several universities and colleges.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and Master of Arts in Organizational Management degrees from Tusculum College; and his Doctorate of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Argosy University, Sarasota, FL.
Dr. Carter has researched the marketing efforts of higher education institutions and continues to examine how these efforts have changed over the years. His current interests include researching and staying current on Internet and mobile marketing practices. His research interests also include radio promotions, the marketing of music, and allergen free marketing practices.
Tim is originally from Limestone, TN and continues to reside there with his wife of 31 years, Joan. They have three children and three grandchildren. He enjoys discussing the history of the area and has traced his ancestry back 200 years in the Western NC and Eastern TN region. He also enjoys reading, researching, tinkering on old cars and tractors, and listening to good music. He specifically loves Bluegrass music, hosted a weekly Bluegrass radio program for several years, and plays and sings in local Bluegrass bands as much as time allows.
