Types of Financial Aid Available

Tusculum Academic Scholarship: This scholarship is based on GPA and determined at the time of acceptance. Every student in our traditional program qualifies for a Tusculum Scholarship. Exceptional students may receive the Tusculum Charter Scholarship, Tusculum Heritage Scholarship, or the Tusculum Legacy Scholarship instead. First in Family Scholarship: First-time college students who are the first in their family to obtain a bachelor’s degree can receive up to $500.

Pell Grant: A federal need-based grant determined by completing the FAFSA. The Student Aid Index (SAI) produced by the FAFSA is part of the need-based formula for Pell eligibility. For more information, visit studentaid.gov.

Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant: A $500 federal scholarship for students with an SAI ranging from -1500 to 0 who submit their FAFSA before February 1st.

Tennessee State Assistance Award (TSAC TSAA): A grant for TN residents with an SAI within the range set by the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation who file their FAFSA before February 1st. Eligible students can receive up to $4,000 per academic year. For more information, visit tn.gov.

Tennessee Hope Scholarship: A scholarship for TN residents who graduate from an eligible TN high school. Students must enroll in college no later than 16 months from graduation, have a 3.0 GPA or 21 ACT/1060 SAT, and file FAFSA by September 1st for fall and February 1st for spring and summer. Freshmen and sophomores can receive up to $4,500; juniors and seniors up to $5,700 per academic year. For more information, visit tn.gov.

Tennessee Aspire Award: A supplement to the TN Hope Scholarship. Eligible students with an AGI less than $36,000 can receive up to $1,500 per academic year.

Tennessee General Assembly Merit Scholarship (GAMS): A supplement to the TN Hope Scholarship. Eligible students with a 3.75 GPA and 29 ACT/1330 SAT can receive up to $1,000. Cannot be combined with the Aspire Award.

Tennessee students who file their FAFSA early and are eligible for the full Pell Grant, TSAA, and HOPE Scholarship will be designated as Pioneer 100 students, meaning 100% of their tuition is paid by Gift Aid.
