Sport Management is in Demand and Growing

Sport Management is currently in demand

According to Plunkett Research, in 2018 the entire recreation and sports industry in the U.S. was $539.7 billion.

Sport Management graduates are well-suited for a wide range of occupations within the industry, including management, legal, marketing, coaching, facilities management, analytics, sales, event planning, and a range of public relations and broadcasting categories.

In fact, a recent search of Indeed.com for Sport Management Jobs just in Tennessee produced nearly 300 current openings.

Strong employment projections for the future

Employment projections for the United States (2016-2026) and Tennessee (2014-2024) show management occupations project increases of 9.2% (US) and 10.7% (TN), and in Tennessee some areas such as Marketing manager (25.7%) and Public Relations and Fundraising Managers (28.5%) project even higher growth rates.

While Agents and Business Managers of Artists, Performers and Athletes show a lower growth rate of 2.3% (US), and 3.4% (TN), other areas such as Management Analyst (81%-US, 26.9%-TN) and Market Research Analysts (76.7%-US, 40.4%-TN) show higher growth rates.
