The Pioneer Award was established by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association in 1962 and is presented each year to an outstanding alumnus or alumna, in recognition of outstanding or meritorious achievement in his or her chosen field; for distinguished service to church, community, country and humanity; and for continuing and loyal service to Tusculum University.
The Frontier Award was established by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association in 1995 and is presented each year to an outstanding alumnus or alumna in recognition of outstanding or meritorious advancement in his or her career. Consideration will be given to former students who have been graduated from the University at least five years, but no more than fifteen years. Consideration for this award should include continuing and loyal service to Tusculum University.
The National Living Faculty Award was established by the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association in 1996 and is presented each year to an outstanding member of the Tusculum University Faculty. The purpose of the Living Faculty Award is to bestow recognition on those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the University’s academic program(s). Persons shall not be eligible for consideration until they have maintained an academic relationship with the College for at least five years. To be considered for recognition, faculty members should have excelled during their service to Tusculum University by demonstrating a commitment to the students of the College and the academic program(s).
Established in 1996 and restructured by the Alumni Executive Board in 2020, the Honorary Alumni Award is presented to an outstanding member of the Tusculum University community. The Honorary Alumni Award bestows recognition on those who have not attended the institution but have made outstanding contributions to the University. To be eligible, individuals must have maintained an active relationship with the University for at least five years. They must have excelled in their service to Tusculum University by demonstrating a commitment to its students and academic programs. The Alumni Executive Board retains the right to withhold this recognition during the years in which it decided no truly deserving recipient is nominated.
The nominations procedure for the awards, except the Sports Hall of Fame Award, is: The Director of Alumni Engagement at Tusculum University and/or President, Alumni Executive Board, solicits nominations through the Alumni Web Page, Broadcast E-mail, Tusculum Magazine, Alumni Executive Board Contacts, Faculty/Staff; General Discussion; and Nominations Form/Announcement at Annual Meeting. Names submitted for the awards are then reviewed by interviewing those who submitted the nomination and by researching files and database for previous awards/information for those individuals nominated. Following the collection of this information, nominations are submitted to the Alumni Executive Board. Awards recipients are chosen at the discretion of the Alumni Executive Board by a vote of general consensus.
Entry deadline for the 2023 Alumni Awards is October 1, 2023. Award winners will be announced at the annual Alumni Meeting on Saturday October 14. Please register for this even by clicking here.
