Graduation Ceremony Instructions

More Graduation Information

Please complete your Application for Graduation by April 5th to ensure we print your name correctly on your diploma.

There is a graduation fee of $100 that must be paid by all graduates regardless of whether you participate in the ceremony. This fee covers the purchase of your diploma, diploma tube, and costs for the ceremony. The Business Office has added the graduation fee to your student account.

To receive your diploma following the end of the semester, all academic and financial obligations to the University must be met. May diplomas will be available for pick-up from the Registrar’s Office starting on May 20th, 2024. Any diplomas not picked up by end-of-day on June 13th will be mailed to graduates on June 17th.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: All potential graduates must have their outstanding balances owed to the university paid in full prior to the ceremony. If a graduate has not paid their balance in full, they will not be allowed to attend the graduation ceremony.

Payments must be made to the Business Office – please contact them for balance or payment information.

Payments can be made in the Business Office the morning of the ceremony if needed. If you are unable to settle your balance before the ceremony, you are welcome to instead attend the next graduation ceremony following full payment of your outstanding balance owed.

Please note: A balance owed will not prevent you from graduating from Tusculum University following completion of your academic requirements. However, your diploma and your final transcript with your degree posted will be held until your balance is settled.

If you wish to order regalia to participate in the ceremony, you must also complete this regalia order form by:

***NEW POLICY: Early Participation in Commencement Ceremonies***

We are excited to share that beginning with the May 6, 2023 Commencement Ceremony, students who have not yet completed all requirements of their degree, but have no more than 6 hours of coursework remaining, will be able to participate in a commencement ceremony early.

If you will be within 6 credits hours of completing your degree requirements at the end of this semester, these are the steps to apply to participate in a commencement ceremony early:

  1. If you have not already done so, complete the Application for Graduation right away.
  2. Finalize an advisor-approved plan to complete your remaining coursework and submit the completed Early Commencement Participation Request Form to the Registrar; and
  3. Pay off your student account balance in full at least two weeks prior to commencement.

Please note: Although you may be approved to participate in the commencement ceremony early, your degree will not be conferred until the next graduation date following completion of your coursework.

Also, please be aware that Tusculum University will no longer be holding commencement ceremonies in August. Those who will finish their programs in August will participate in either the May or December commencement ceremonies.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this new policy and have more questions, please feel free to contact the Registrar’s Office at registrartu@tusculum.edu or 423-636-7311 for more information.
